What Is Hypnobirthing?
Hypnobirthing is a childbirth education method developed in the 1980s that uses self-hypnosis, relaxation techniques, and breathing exercises to reduce fear and pain during labor. The core premise is sound: a relaxed mother experiences less pain and often has smoother deliveries.
The techniques themselves—deep breathing, visualization, releasing tension—are not inherently problematic. Many Catholic women have used hypnobirthing successfully.
